Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions from our clients about post-fire textile cleaning services from La Planchadora Madrid
Can clothing be recovered after a fire?
Yes. With our specialized treatment we can recover most affected garments. We use approved oxygen washing that removes soot and smoke odor even from garments that seem irrecoverable.
What types of textiles can you clean?
Virtually all types of textiles: clothing, delicate garments, bedding, duvets, blankets, carpets, curtains, upholstery, cushions, carpeting and more.
What does the service include?
Free pickup throughout the Community of Madrid, detailed assessment of garments, no-commitment quote, specialized washing, anti-odor treatment, professional packaging and home delivery.
How long does the complete process take?
Pickup is done within a maximum of 72 hours; assessment and quote within 24–48 hours. Complete cleaning typically takes between 7 to 15 business days, depending on volume.
Do you really eliminate smoke odor?
Yes. Our system eliminates odor from deep within the fibers, it doesn't mask it. It breaks down smoke particles until they're completely gone.
Can you remove soot and black stains?
Yes. We remove soot, combustion particles and stains characteristic of a fire through a deep, specialized process.
Is it safe for delicate garments?
Absolutely. We handle silks, wools, fine garments and sensitive fabrics. We adapt the process to each type of material.
Can you clean bulky textiles like large carpets or curtains?
Yes, we collect and treat items of any size, from small clothing to large carpets, curtains and complete upholstery.
Do you work with insurance companies?
Yes. We are certified by insurance companies and can coordinate billing and management if your policy covers it.
Can I try washing the clothes myself?
It's not recommended. Soot becomes embedded in the fibers and household products can fix the residue even more, worsening the damage.
Can I store the affected clothing while I decide what to do?
Yes, but we recommend not handling it too much. Preferably store it in breathable bags and in a ventilated place until pickup.
What happens if I notice smoke odor after cleaning?
We repeat the treatment at no additional cost until complete odor elimination is achieved.
Can burned or severely damaged garments be recovered?
If the fabric is burned, melted or severely deteriorated, it may not be recoverable. We inform you of these cases when assessing the garments.
Is there a limit to the quantity of garments I can send?
No. There is no volume limit; you can send from just a few garments to complete loads of household textiles.
What should I do if I've suffered a fire and want to start the process?
Simply call us or message us on WhatsApp. We arrange free pickup, conduct the assessment and send you a no-obligation quote.
How much does the service cost?
The price depends on the type of garments, their condition and volume. After pickup we conduct an assessment and send you a detailed quote before we begin.
What if there are fire extinguisher residue, water or chemical smoke?
Our treatment is designed to eliminate not only soot and smoke, but also fire extinguisher residue, moisture and chemical particles produced during the fire.
